Middle school students from Guiyang, China, traveled to the United States to participate in a Summer Immersion Program with SPIRAL International this August. As part of the 15-day program, students were hosted by the Center for Global Studies (CGS) at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Students engaged in intensive English language learning and practiced their skills by participating in project-based activities and cultural workshops with their American peers. As part of the program, students had the opportunity to stay with host families and attend classes at CGS such as Creative Arts, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences & Sustainability, and English courses. The group also attended field trips with their peer students to Yale University, Central Park, Times Square, Fifth Avenue, the Statue of Liberty and more!
The rest of the tour included visiting important historical and modern sites on the East Coast of the United States and visiting universities. Students explored Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston and New York City. Some of the highlights of the trip included Capital Hill and the White House, the United Nations Headquarters, the Metropolitan Museum, and the Liberty Bell!
