SPIRAL International was greatly saddened by the news of long-time
partner Ned Kirsch’s recent passing. We have lost a valued leader and colleague, and a dear friend.
Mr. Kirsch, most recently serving as Superintendent at Franklin West Supervisory Union, had been a SPIRAL partner for many years on many levels. He had traveled to China with us, worked with us locally, helped us build support for China trips for FWSU student and staff, and had provided us invaluable insight us on many education-based topics. In addition, Ned had served on the Board of Directors with SPIRAL’s sister-organization, Go Global Vermont, in yet another effort to help those in need and spearhead and support efforts for increased global understanding and advancement of the UN SDGs.
Ned’s dedication to his professional “family” and students was manifest, as was his profound care for his personal family and friends.
Fortunately for us here at Spiral, Ned was also passionate about the benefits of international education and global partnerships, which enabled us to build a partnership with Ned that extended beyond the boundaries of the classroom and has deeply impacted many persons in many locations around the globe.
So, it is with genuine sorrow and heavy hearts that the entire team here at SPIRAL extends our greatest sympathies to both of Ned’s families. We share in your grief and will greatly miss Ned’s presence as well. Godspeed, Mr. Kirsch.
