SPIRAL International is meeting with Mr. Li and Mr. Seow from Suzhou Industrial Park Foreign Language School at the beginning of February to discuss potential areas of collaboration. These would include building sister school relationships, developing international cooperative programs, and possibly facilitating a Dual Diploma agreement between their school in China and one of SPIRAL’s partner schools in the U.S. The Dual Diploma program is an exciting project designed by SPIRAL International with Vermont school educators, and it has been approved by the leaders of the Vermont Agency of Education. The program allows Chinese high school students to attend American schools for one or more semesters. Upon successful fulfillment of graduation requirements, they receive a diploma from an American high school, as well as their own high school in China. SPIRAL will host the Suzhou (“Su-jo”) delegation on a tour of two of SPIRAL’s partner schools in Connecticut: the New London Science & Technology Magnet High School and Valley Regional High School.
Suzhou Industrial Park Foreign Language School (located about 60 miles west of Shanghai) is a private school offering K-12 studies to both Chinese and foreign students. The school’s educational principles combine Asian and Western educational philosophy and curriculums. (click here for more information about SIPFLS)
